An Idea is Born

Toe’ds^™ was founded in 2007 by two long-time friends, Kathleen Fleming and Martha Bibby, who decided to make a sock that was functional, yet comfortable, and wouldn’t show when worn with certain types of shoes.

TheToe’ds^™ story began after a long and unsuccessful search to find a sock that could be worn by men with casual shoes such as loafers, open-back shoes like clogs, or hiking sandals, but wouldn’t show over the top of the shoe or wouldn't “scrunch” down into the toe of the shoe.

Who can wear Toe’ds?

“Anyone can wear Toe’ds^™,” says Kathleen Fleming, Toe’ds^™ co-founder. “We originally designed Toe’ds for men because we couldn’t find a product like this anywhere that was for a man’s foot. And almost all of the men we talked with told us they prefer to wear their shoes with socks. But, as we got further into the process, we found that many women and young people liked and wanted our sock design too, so we decided to make it a unisex product. We’re very excited about our initial product launch and we’ll be adding Youth sizes and more color choices in the very near future.”

What makes Toe’ds different than other similar socks on the market?

“We designed Toe’ds^™with comfort and functionality in mind. The idea is not new  -  it’s just the other designs are all for women and they either slip off your foot or they’re made from synthetic fibers, such as nylon or spandex, that are hot and make your feet sweat,” says Martha Bibby the company’s other co-founder. “Toe’ds are made with Bamboo, which has a naturally self-wicking ability that helps to keep your feet dry. Plus, we’re eco-conscious at Toe’ds, so it was only fitting for us to produce a sock made from a product that is organic and naturally sustainable.”
